Aristotle's Metaphysics Z.1
Chapter 1 Z.1 Footnote
In this chapter Aristotle argues that the inquiry into the question 'What is being?' amounts to the inquiry into the question 'What is substance?' This is based on the claim that substance is prior to other categories. He explains the different ways in which substance is supposed to be prior to other categories: in time, definition and knowledge.
